Megalomania

“Women have served all these centuries as looking-glasses possessing the magic and delicious power of reflecting the figure of man at twice its natural size… mirrors are essential to all violent and heroic action.” – Virginia Woolf “A Room of One’s Own”

A friend of mine recalled a story about opening a door for a woman to which she replied, “I can do it myself!” Since this experience, he vowed to never open another door for a woman because “women are rude.” Imagine the untapped power that women have in determining the actions and behaviors of men? In this instance one woman was able to determine the fate of all women by simply stating the obvious. Rather than reflecting his dominance she denied him the feeling of superiority. Women are useful to men only insofar as their presence enlarges the male ego. All men are aware of this psychological dependence. The lightest criticism can scratch the façade of male pomposity and pretense exposing a fear of women so deep it can only express itself as anger.
